As of 2018, Illinois' transportation system includes the Chicago and O’Hare International Airport, the second largest public transportation system, the second largest rail system, the third largest Interstate system, and the fourth largest highway system in the country. To manage the highway network, the State is divided into five transportation regions consisting of nine district offices.
