This synthesis report assembles and shares the current state of practice for the implementation of the 1990 ADA regulation in transit systems. It documents examples from six transit systems as they make modifications to support individuals with disabilities and meet the expectations of the legislation. It also mentions future research needs in this area.

The Maryland Department of Transportation’s (MDOT) Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP), developed through coordination with MDOT’s Asset Management Working Group, is intended to guide the Asset Management Program for MDOT, its five Transportation Business Units (TBUs) and one authority. MDOT is unique among state department of transportations at it houses all of the State’s transportation agencies in one organization, ensuring the interconnectivity of the State highways, toll facilities, transit, aviation, ports, and motor vehicle and driver services.

This pilot project was to develop a framework for extreme weather event risks focused on flood risk in the Houston area. The project looked at the impact of flooding on three different pavement types and the system disruptions. Proxy indicators were evaluated for use as risk indicators such as floodplains, meteorological data, travel times and patterns from GPS.

This report presents guidance and examples for selection of peer groups to ensure that benchmarking is effectively applied to enhance transportation system performance. The report includes practical guidance on how transportation agencies can undertake benchmarking to improve system performance management practices and highlights applications of the guidance in two specific components of system performance, for active (that is, non-motorized) transportation and environmental impact.

Idaho's long range plan focuses on providing safety, mobility and economic opportunity for its citizens across all modes of transportation through 2040. Chapter I provides an overview of the state highways and local roads as well as the changes since the last long range plan in 2010. Chapter II discusses the state's plan for multi-modal planning. Then Chapter III dives into the data and analytics, while Chapter IV explores new and emerging technologies. Finally, Chapter V outlines the implementation plan.

This report summarizes a Maryland DOT pilot project to expand vulnerability assessments to include bridges and to integrate those assessments into existing asset management processes.

The research for this publication looked at weather-related risks to the transportation system and proposes a process that identifies threat events and addresses them through life cycle planning.

The purpose of this research is to incorporate the safety of vulnerable road users into asset management practices. Includes a literature review, identification of risk factors for vulnerable road users, a methodology to incorporate these users into transportation asset management, and a case study.
