Economic Growth Through Effective Rural Road Asset Management

Economic Growth Through Effective Rural Road Asset Management

This paper from the 26th World Road Congress details an approach to rural road asset management in Africa. A self-evaluation tool was given to rural road agencies in five countries. They were asked to rate their road asset management performance and to develop an improvement plan. Basic management systems were developed, including pavement condition indices. The socio-economic impact of road maintenance on communities was measured.
