Transportation Performance Measures for Outcome Based System Management and Monitoring | Research Report
Bridge, Pavement, Safety, System PerformanceMany of the performance measures that the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) analyzes and reports on are used by individual units or sections but have the potential for broader applications, and others may be useful in tracking progress but do not provide the right type of information necessary to help make decisions. As a whole, these measures do not currently function together to draw a clear picture of how the transportation system is functioning. This research project will build on existing efforts within the agency (e.g. alternative mobility measures research, safety performance measures, and Least Cost Planning/Mosaic) to identify decision making performance measures, outcome based performance measures, and consideration of other strategic planning measures, seeking to identify those indicators most informative, measurable, and consistent.

TAM Gap Analysis Tool (NCHRP 08-90) | Research Report
The objective of this research was to develop a TAM gap analysis tool for state DOT and local transportation practitioners to facilitate their implementation of TAM. The tool was formulated as a spreadsheet application based on the prototype presented in TAM, Volume 2 (developed through NCHRP and published by AASHTO), with refinements responsive to (a) requirements of MAP-21 and anticipated FHWA rulemaking and (b) institutional and technical characteristics of U.S. transportation system management practices.

Guide for the Process of Managing Risk on Rapid Renewal Projects | Research Report
This guide focuses risk management specifically concerning rapid renewal projects, i.e. projects designed to work on an accelerated pace and therefore lessen the project’s disruption to normal transportation patterns. Since projects of this nature are a more recent development, there is less known about how to correctly implement them. This guide formalizes a comprehensive approach to risk management on this kind of project, using steps such as: structuring, risk identification, risk assessment, risk analysis, risk management planning, and risk management implementation.

Minnesota DOT TAMP 2014 | Plan
Asset Management, Bridge, PavementAs a national pilot project, MnDOT produced a TAMP, along with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development and New York State Department of Transportation, to serve as an example and guide for other states. MnDOT worked closely with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the FHWA Minnesota Division, and regional partners (e.g. Metropolitan Planning Organizations, Regional Development Commissions) to create this plan. MnDOT additionally produced a TAMP Technical Guide, which provides further detail about the process, methodology analyses, and procedures used during its development.
